Michele Bachmann demanded an apology for the “Lyin’ A$$ B*tch” Fallon flub and she got it.
Bachmann wasn’t too happy with Late Night With Jimmy Fallon‘s choice of using the 1985 Fishbone song with the expletive title as intro music for her appearance on Monday. The conservative presidential candidate stopped by the NBC show and unknowlingly walked out to the mid-80′s jam.
After the incident, conservative bloggers started campaigns chastising the show’s actions. Reportedly the song choice came from Questlove, the drummer of Late Night’s house band The Roots. Jimmy Fallon issued an apology over the phone and via Twitter adding that he hopes Bachmannn will return to the show.
Questlove issued a statement over his song choice, which he labeled as “Snark” on his Twitter account.
“The performance was a tongue-in-cheek and spur of the moment decision,” Questlove told the Wall Street Journal. “The show was not aware of it and I feel bad if her feelings were hurt. That was not my intention.”
Bachmannn accepted Fallon’s apology but insisted the network should also apologize. Elaborating on the incident, Bachmannn said “If that had been Michelle Obama, who’d come out on the stage, and if that song had been played for Michelle Obama, I have no doubt that NBC would have apologized to her and likely they would have fired the drummer, or at least suspended him. None of that happened from NBC. And this is clearly a form of bias on the part of the Hollywood entertainment elite, but it’s also, I think, sexism as well. This wouldn’t be tolerated if this was Michelle Obama; it shouldn’t be tolerated if it’s a conservative woman either.”
NBC has since apologized for the incident insuing a personal letter from VP Doug Vaughan. Vaughan labeled the incident “unfortunate but also unacceptable” saying the band has been reprimanded.
