The Grammy nominations prime-time special scheduled for later this month, will take a different spin this year with a joint tribute to Nick Ashford and Jerry Lieber.
Set to air live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, the usually upbeat ceremony will feature Usher singing a collection of Ashford & Simpson hits along with Mike Stoller, Lieber’s longtime writing partner.
Artists are usually honored during the Grammy broadcast, but this year, the music legends will be honored ahead of the Feb. 12 ceremony.
Valerie Simpson and Stoller will be on separate pianos lending their talent to the momentous occasion.
Rihanna, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Sugarland are also slated to participate in the event. The Grammy nominations ceremony will air live on CBS on November 30th.
