Houston Center for Contemporary Craft has announced its call for entry for the “CraftTexas 2012″ exhibit, the seventh in a series of juried exhibitions showing the best in Texas-made contemporary craft.
The exhibition provides Texas artists the opportunity to be considered for inclusion in major national museum and private collections. It features artists from all over the state who work in glass, clay, fiber, metal and wood and found/recycled materials; and serves as a starting place for the general public to appreciate the depth of craft being made in local communities throughout the state.
CraftTexas 2012 will be juried by Jean W. McLaughlin, Executive Director of the Penland School of Crafts in Bakersville, NC; Rachelle Thiewes, internationally acclaimed metal and jewelry artist from El Paso, TX; and Jade Walker, Director of the Visual Arts Center and the Creative Research Laboratory at the University of Texas at Austin.
The exhibition will be on view next year from Sept. 29 – Dec. 30, at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft. Three Award of Merit prizes of $1000 each will be awarded by the jurors at the opening reception.
