Developer McCormack Baron Salazar plans to build the mixed-income community in the Magnolia Homes, Cedar Terrace and Oleander Homes developments.  The developer will also secure a new development location for the future community.

The Galveston Housing Authority Board of Commissioners approved the plans for the development earlier this week.

The plan calls for a rebuilding of 569 public housing units destroyed by Hurricane Ike.  Each development will have a 40-20-40 ratio of 40 percent mixed-income units, 20 percent tax-credit units and 40 percent public housing units.

Construction should commence by July 2012.
