According to an On Numbers analysis of new employment data, Texas topped the nation in job growth during the recession with a gain of 157,400 jobs.
Data released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, shows that between September 2007 and September 2011, forty-five states have smaller employment numbers today than before the recession, while Texas saw a job increase. Texas leads the list with job growth followed by North Dakota, District of Columbia, Alaska, Louisiana and Wyoming.
North Dakota led the nation in the percentage of job growth with an increase of 10.41 percent.
On the downside, California and Nevada saw the biggest job losses during the four year period. California faced the biggest loss with 1.09 million jobs gone since September 2007 and Nevada had the biggest decline in percentage terms, losing 12.97 percent.
